We selected Alcott specifically for the diverse learner program and our all of our expectations have been greatly exceeded. The support teachers, school psychologist and speech pathologist are top notch and have helped our son thrive. In addition, our daughter who does not require additional supports, has felt challenged and engaged and is also thriving. There is an amazing community of teachers and families who support the school. The principal is an effective leader and is thoughtful and kind while still creating high standards for the entire school. The school clerk and security guard make all feel welcome and safe. We absolutely love Alcott and the entire community.

My child is excited to go to school and learn everyday. the teachers are responsive. there is a great sense of community with involved parents.

Do not send your small children to this school if they cry or have separation anxiety. They won't deal with it and will make you feel like a terrible parent for having a child that expresses emotion. If I could change one thing about raising my children - just one - it would be sending my children to this school for even one second.

We are now in our third year at Saint Clement and couldn't be happier with the school! Academically, our oldest has thrived in both reading and math, thanks to the school's ability to tailor teaching styles to each student's needs. The faculty and staff do an exceptional job of fostering a strong sense of community and belonging through programs like Anchor Family and Anchor Buddy, which connect students across grades K-8.

My son loves this school, and so do I!

Staff members (assistant teachers, after school staff members, etc) are given non-livable wages. $19-$20/hour is not adequate in 2024. Substitute and part-time staff are paid even less.Healthcare plan costs are inhumane. For an individual play it’s about $400/month. To bring on a spouse to your plan it’s $700/month. For the family plan it’s $1000/month (half your pay). Noted that these are prices you pay 10 months for the year. No dental, no vision, matching retirement benefits are only provided to higher-level faculty.No pay for summer and winter break drops a $20/hour pay to a 30k salary.. Can anyone successfully live off of that in 2024? Why does the school pay staff members less than the tuition of a single student?Many staff members + teachers are amazing. Patient and kind with students and other staff. Others constantly speak negatively during work hours about students, teachers, faculty, and administration. Certain staff members will not hesitate to scream at young children (as young as kindergartners) daily as their first and only discipline measure. This is unacceptable and should not be tolerated by the school. Please ask and listen to your kids about how the classroom is handled.For a school that speaks so highly of their values and values they want to impart upon students, from my experience in the lower school… They don’t practice what they preach. Actions speak louder than words.But hey; at least they provide staff with a great free lunch right?

As we look at our friends around the country and the stress their children’s school situations are bringing, we cannot adequately express in words how fortunate we are to be part of the St Josaphat family. We’re beyond grateful for the dedicated educators who tirelessly adapt to a changing world to ensure our children have the best chance for success, and for the SJS community who have pulled together as a family. The staff, administrators, maintenance workers, clergy, volunteers and teachers have maintained such a wonderfully fluid learning environment for the students.Our teachers willingly tutor via zoom after school. Families are happy to take turns chaperoning remote learning. Helping one another is second nature.When COVID 19 struck, we soon realized that our three children had differing needs for engagement. Their teachers responded wonderfully at every level. They provided not only the basic curriculum, but special classes, extension activities and other much needed opportunities to socialize, making school life as normal as possible. That was a major gift. In our house, the seamless transitions between remote and in-person learning have fostered self-discipline and independent study skills that students in many other schools never acquire.To say only “thanks” feels strangely inadequate, but we know it is where we must begin to shine some light on the profoundly positive impact SJS has had on our family as we navigate this unprecedented time.
